Folding your Keeper
There are many different ways to fold a Keeper, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Here are three most often used:
U-fold:
The "traditional fold", the disadvantages are that it is rather blunt to insert, you have to hold it up next to the rim to keep it folded, and occasionally it does not unfold completely and a kink in the rim can cause leakage.
The kink can usually be fixed by rotating the cup (by holding the base)
after insertion, then giving a light tug to settle the Keeper in place.
7-fold or "Diagonal fold":
The preferred fold of many women, the advantages are that it is "sharper" to insert, the Keeper is held lower down during insertion, and it cannot kink as it opens.
The photo above shows the Keeper held ready for insertion. Sorry - it's
a hard one to demonstrate, when the base and tab are hidden inside your
hand.
The photo below shows the look of the folded Keeper - but don't try to insert
it while held like this...
Origami fold:
Women who find the 7-fold clumsy prefer this one. Push the edge of the rim down inside the Keeper, as in the photo above; the photo below shows it ready for insertion. Occasionally this fold is reluctant to open fully if it is a tight fit in your vagina, in that case use the 7-fold. Other wise the advantages are the "sharp" insertion end, it stays folded more easily as you insert it and the fact it is held lower down during insertion.
Tried these folds and your Keeper is still leaking?
You may have pushed the Keeper too high. As the cervix is not located centrally in the vagina, pushing the Keeper too high can cause their cervix to sit on the rim and leak over the side of it. Use the tab to pull the Keeper slightly lower in the vagina.
