Catching up with ourselves...
The year races on, Easter is almost with us and we are already close to a quarter of the way through another year! Time to stop for a moment and take stock of our busy lives and where we are headed!! My temperamental, aged, 5-thread overlocker continues to only sew well when I sit calmly and work with it with love in my heart - so I have a regular reminder to relax and let life flow!
The year so far has been a hectic one for me... I'm still catching up with sewing after my time off in early Spring and a busy Summer of sales (thank you to all my customers!!) the stock bins are not yet all refilled. So thanks too to those of you who have had the patience to wait when I have had to sew to fill your orders :-)!
Customers who have been waiting for a B Keeper will be glad to hear that stocks arrived in Australia from the USA today (16/3/05)!! I'll have them in the mail for you tomorrow. Word about The Keeper and Moon Pads is finally getting out and customers are happily giving up their monthly shopping sprees for throw-away tampons and pads and turning to reusable alternatives!
And customers in the last month or so will have noticed that I am learning to use MYOB First Edge... I've just about got 'invoices' under my belt, but may need to climb another steep learning curve to come to terms with the rest of it!
The Sustainable Living Festival
The SLF at Federation Square in Melbourne was again a fantastic time - meeting so many wonderful folk, all with the aim of making their lifestyle more sustainable on this little planet of ours. Yana (a Melbourne customer) was a tower of strength helping me on my stall, letting me have time to eat, to relax on the banks of the Yarra and to see some of the other displays during our hectic three days of talking hundreds of to old, new and possible future customers.
In the meantime Kathy holds the fort for me in Tassie whenever I vanish for more that a few days. She will be the one you will talk or email with from 19 March till 15 April, while Alex and I take our annual bushwalking holiday and then visit Adelaide for our daughter's graduation. Thank you Kathy!
Moon Pads prices... are going up...
It is over 2 years (coming on for three!) since our last major look at our prices. If you or your friends have been putting off any purchases, the next few weeks might be a good time to catch us before the new prices come into effect from 15 April. If you want to make comparisons, take a look at http://www.moonpads.com.au/product_info.html.
For the moment we plan to hold the Brinsmead Babies prices at current levels (they were set in July 2004).
How long will my Moon Pads last?
I'm often asked this one... and my brochures claim a modest 5 years.
My own pads have seen over 9 years of use, and are still usable! I've been making pads for sale for about 7 years now, and my first few customers are beginning to come back for more. "Are they worn out?" I have asked. "Still usable", I'm told, "but a bit faded and not as exciting as they used to look, so I want some of your new bright colours too!"
Is it a stroke??
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
*Ask the individual to smile.
*Ask him or her to raise both arms.
*Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.
If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 000 (Ambulance) immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people, you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
Tell as many people as possible about this. It could save their lives!

Remember my little friends, twins Charlotte and Georgia? I introduced them to you in last winter's eNewsletter. They had their first birthdays in November. They began walking before that and are already racing through life at full tilt! I am constantly amazed at how different their personalities are too. Enjoy your babies!! They grow up so fast!!
WOOLLIES - I am constantly on the lookout for suitable blankets to make these Damp-proof pants for nappy wearing infants... the blankets must be in good condition, unstained and free of holes. Please let me know if you need a good home for your pure wool blankets:-), Pip. |
