Healing After Rape

Two courageous women have recently written their stories of rape and recovery. Their stories are stories ALL women should hear. They are about abusive men and about women experiencing suffering and trauma; but they are also testimonies to healing and strength. These two stories are about a subject which our society rarely discusses. The huge, untold story of women being used and abused by men who are behaving in ways absolutely unacceptable to our society's values and beliefs, yet these men are often protected by the veil of secrecy.

Under our current laws "Justice" requires invasive "medical proof" and "evidence" of "rape". We force a woman to stand in Court to protest she did not "submit"; while the perpetrators are "innocent until proven guilty".... little wonder that so many deeply traumatised women stay silent in the face of this crime against them. Yet their healing requires their story being told. Requires society to say "these men are NOT behaving in acceptable ways". Their healing requires them to reclaim their ability to choose, reclaim control in their lives and reclaim self-approval/love.

Evelyn and Chloe tell two very different stories. By making their stories available on this website, we are making it possible for their voices to be heard, their truths told. We also trust that it will help other women. Other rape survivors may be encouraged on their journey of recovery and healing. Just one other woman may learn how to be safer in our world! And we trust that ALL of us will campaign for changing current legislation.

Please read these stories, cry with Evelyn and Chloe, grow with them, and grow in your own experience of womanhood and your own commitment to the safety of all people in our society.

As a mum of three I am really happy about your site and your products. I am a small scale Tasmanian family owned business connecting the local growers of natural fibres with the local craft people.

I keep angora rabbits for their 'wool' and am the only person selling angora baby hats in the country.

The angora rabbit is a rare breed and I nurture my bunnies like members of the family. I disagree with the cruel 'intensive farming practices' of angoras in China and New Zealand and choose to raise my bunnies in a loving, social and natural environment where they grow plenty of 'wool' for them selves and us. Their fur is trimmed four times a year in a gentle manner. They are never restrained and shorn like commercial producers do.

Angora is the finest, softest and warmest natural fibre available perfect for tiny babies in winter, elderly people with arthritis or people like myself who just love to feel the softness of guilt free fur. My bunnies are never harmed !

I spin the yarn myself and have local knitters who can make anything to order for any one who asks. I even tell you the name of the bunny that provided the soft fur for each garment.

I work in with my local gardening group. They provide my bunnies with their excess garden greens and the bunnies give them rich manure for their veggie patches.

Not all of this info is on my site yet but you are welcome to browse my site and ask me questions.

Yours Sincerely,

Lil Valentine.

If you are not concerned about using tampons you should be - for more information go to this UK site dedicated to helping women make an informed choice:

My name is Jenny Kilvert, I run a charity group called Alice Kilvert Tampon Alert from Manchester, UK.  It is named after my daughter Alice, who died of Toxic Shock Syndrome in 1991. We aim to alert people to the dangers of tampons and in particular to TSS.
